Old (woollen ) footy jumpers – the lost letters of Charlie Moore

Charlie Moore played in the 1964 Plenty Rovers premiership team. His footy jumper’s a little the worse for wear after 50 years but he was very proud to wear it again a few Saturdays ago at the last ever game at Mernda’s home ground in Schotters Road.

Plenty Rovers became Mernda in 1965, meaning Charlie played in the final Plenty Rovers premiership.

Mernda will be playing at brand new premises next year, at Woodlands Waters Estate.

In its heyday Charlie’s jumper would have sported proud white lettering: PRFC. Alas, the fabric and the fibre have fallen by the wayside.

His jumper would have once  looked like that of his team-mate Detlef Petersen, whom we mentioned a few weeks back.

Woollen footy jumper.

A best and fairest trophy and one fine woollen jumper.
