Russel Hansen (Rabbit in the Vineyard) gives a specific take on South Sydney’s progress.

as well as numerous other occasional contributors.

Our collection of articles appears below. The first article was published in 2010.

Almanac Rugby League: Ron Coote named as the 14th Immortal (and about bloody time!)

At long last, Ron Coote has been named as the 14th Immortal of rugby league.

NRL Round 23 – Rabbit in the Vineyard: Here (Olympic Stadium, Homebush) and there (Olympic Stadium, Paris)

Rabbit in the Vineyard tried to be in three places at once – athletics in Salisbury, following a lad he coached in Brisbane who was running in the Olympics, and watching the Rabbitohs on TV. Mixed results – fine at Salisbury, a relay record in Paris, but same old, same old for South Sydney against their nemesis, Melbourne Storm.

NRL Round 24 – Prop in the Canefield: You gotta love footy!

Prop in the Canefield is looking forward to the NRL match to be played at one of his favourite grounds, Salter Oval in Bundaberg. His Odd Footy Fact also makes for interesting contemplation.

NRL Round 24 and NRLW Round 4 – Where have these Broncos been?

The continuing uncertainty of both NRL and NRLW comps keeps the fans and the tipsters on edge. Ian Hauser tries to untangle the threads to find his winners.

NRL Round 22 – Rabbit in the Vineyard: I did not switch over from the Olympics for much of this…

Rabbit in the Vineyard found the Olympic Games a more inviting spectacle than South Sydney’s ongoing poor form.

NRL Round 23 – Prop in the Canefield: You gotta love footy!

Prop must have been out in the early mornings of late because he’s all about ‘threads of gossamer’ this week. It’s an accurate description of the prospects of several clubs as they enter this weekend’s NRL Round 23.

NRL Round 23 and NRLW Round 3: It’s death or glory for several clubs this weekend!

It’s death or glory for several clubs in both the NRL and NRLW this weekend. Ian Hauser surveys the prospects and comes up with his winners.

NRL Round 21 – Watching the Olympics a better option

Rabbit in the Vineyard, a rusted-on South Sydney tragic, was disappointed in their Round 21 effort against Canberra. He couldn’t wait to switch back to the Olympic Games coverage.

NRL Round 22 – Prop in the Canefield: You gotta love footy!

Prop in the Canefield is down on the Broncos (fair enough!) but understands why Craig Bellamy realises that ‘good enough’ doesn’t cut it against a team like Penrith. And what about ‘the scoot’?

NRL Round 22 and NRLW Round 2: Slippery slopes and the abyss

The slippery slope leads in only one direction – the abyss. Several clubs in both the NRL and the NRLW face that prospect this weekend. Ian Hauser spells out the harsh reality.
