The prize for the best 15 year old school boy footballers in 2001 was a week off school, in Albury. The best of the best are in this photo.
On the end of the middle row stands a boy who would go on to be one of the AFL’s most maligned players (often by his own supporters).
At the other end is Richard Tambling.
A future Deer Park premiership captain and a cherubic looking eventual Hawk stalwart are also in that same row.
The front row contains a kid who would go on to be the coach of Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong, another “fan favourite” who has just joined his third AFL club, a former Saint and Sun, a more hairy-back-then Scotch First XVIII captain, a current day Yarrawonga Real Estate salesman (and grandson of a Brownlow medallist) and the future captain of Peel Thunder.
Fill in the blanks down below if you please.

That Hawthorn stalwart with the cherubic face wasn’t always so innocent at school according to information passed on from a certain teacher at his school.
This is the same player that took a while to control his aggression on the field and was rewarded with all-Australian honors last year.
A bit like the other famous player from Warrnambool , Jonathon Brown, who was aggressive and brave on the field and in his later years decided that just being brave was the way to go.
Thanks for that Neil, kinda not surprised about Lewis’ schooldays.
