  1. Wow!

That is one heck of a profile.

    A real feelgood story this.

  2. Sensational.

  3. A huge thank you to Martin Flanagan. I have always admired Martin and his writing – both his day to day journalism and his books. To have someone of Martin;s stature acknowledge LBTS is deeply gratifying. It is also a credit to the writers and their stories.

A special thanks to Martin for taking the time to have a look at what is, as he points out, a somewhat maverick and ambitious concept. It’s reassuring the someone like Martin understands and appreciates what we are trying to do. He really loves writing. And he is very supportive of concepts and projects which have a chance of facilitating it.

The challenge now is for Craig Little, those who want to write for LBTS, and me, to justify Martin’s faith.

    Thanks Martin.

  4. Yeah, that’s pretty special. Now we just have to sort of what kind of award John deserves.

  5. Yep, worthy praise from one of the high priests!

  6. Neil Anderson says

Great article with a large photo of Snake’s famous mark.
The best analogy I could think of was all about a captain leading from the front and the rest of the troops trying to keep up and not let the side down. I think most Almanackers would be trying to improve on their writing skills each year when they see the bar set so high by their leader.
Having been the person who suggested using Barassi’s famous instruction as a title, I was really chuffed to read Martin refer to it as an ‘exquisite’ title.

  7. Wow! indeed. Superb review. Congratulations to JTH and all at LBTS.

    Cheers, Burkie

  8. Thumbs up from Martin Flanagan is high praise indeed. Very proud to be a Nacker. Well done to LBTS writers and the editorial team.

  9. Mark 'Swish' Schwerdt says

Chuffed to see a few copies on the shelves of my local independent bookshop last week and fewer copies when I popped in today.

  10. Made my morning to see the Almanac given prominence in the non Rupert press. Martin Flanagan is a treasure. And I agree with him – so are you Mr Harmes.

  11. Yes it is just and proper recognition of the ability of JT Harms to continually challenge the norm and rage against the banal. And in so doing create not just a place for people to have a voice, but a place for people to meet and talk.

    Brilliant concept. Wonderful execution. Congratulations.

  12. Mathilde de Hauteclocque says

I am happy to be on the JTH award committee, Dave B. I am sure it will have a superb name!
Bravo to all who work so hard on bringing voices into the open!
