#almanac280 – Adelaide: place, language and bubblers

Last week we asked the you and the Twitterverse to send us short stories that made the most of Twitter’s new 280 character limit – inspired by Adelaide.

Nearly 100 entries poured in. Check out all the entries here: https://www.footyalmanac.com.au/almanac-writing-competition-almanac280-adelaide/

Last week we also said that:
Judges will award $100 worth of books to the story considered the best, in the spirit of the Almanac.
The winning entry will be announced on Wednesday 6 December (i.e. scheduled Day 5 of the Adelaide Test).

Entries were full of local colour:

(all images can be enlarged by clicking on them)

Local voice:

And local history.

We had stories of reputation:

Of painful memory:

And of the pieces of a life:

Not all were romantic:

But the entry which best summed up the spirit of Almanac was this from our young local footy and cricket correspondent Aidan Hammond.

Many thanks for your involvement.

Well played.
