Last week we asked the you and the Twitterverse to send us short stories that made the most of Twitter’s new 280 character limit – inspired by Adelaide.
Nearly 100 entries poured in. Check out all the entries here: http://www.footyalmanac.com.au/almanac-writing-competition-almanac280-adelaide/
Last week we also said that:
Judges will award $100 worth of books to the story considered the best, in the spirit of the Almanac.
The winning entry will be announced on Wednesday 6 December (i.e. scheduled Day 5 of the Adelaide Test).
Entries were full of local colour:
Local voice:
And local history.
We had stories of reputation:
And of the pieces of a life:
Not all were romantic:
But the entry which best summed up the spirit of Almanac was this from our young local footy and cricket correspondent Aidan Hammond.
Many thanks for your involvement.
Well played.
Congrats Aidan! Well played
Aidan, you’re soooooo Adelaide. Love your work – short and long forms.
Congrats. Send me an email and we’ll sort out the prize.
Well done Aidan. Great stuff. Really enjoyed this writing challenge too- as a writer and a reader.
If we go again with Perth in a week or so, I’ll be playing Fremantle Doctor bingo as the entries appear.
Thanks again to Er and co for running this.
Congratulations all.
Love the creativity, the involvement.
And well done A Hammond.
