Bloody marvellous Patrick. Made me proud to share this country with so many tolerant, enriching people and their cultures.
I got goosebumps reading it and it made me feel very, very grateful and happy.
The Avenging Eagle and her family migrated from Croatia (then part of Yugoslavia) when she was 2. Her father was proud of his culture but defiantly refused to be involved in any sectarian activities when the 90’s war was raging.
When Australia and Yugoslavia both qualified for the 1974 World Cup his young sons asked him “who do we support dad?” He said we support both, but if they meet (they didn’t) we are Australians now.
The Makybe Diva silks were a wonderful Australia/Croatian combo.
