The Almanac Melbourne Cup 2019 Trifecta (We won!)

Yet again, a huge thank you to VRC Handicapper Greg Carpenter for taking us through the weights and measures and form of 24 runners at The Footy Almanac Melbourne Cup Eve Lunch at the North Fitzroy Arms. He was supported by England’s most loved sportslover Andy Gemmell.
After much discussion and some debate, a consensus was reached and a $500 trifecta constructed:

3rd: 1 2 3 5 7 8 9 11 12 13 14 18 19 20 23

We received $1803.
Proceeds to go to a charity of the raffle-winner’s choice.
A grand afternoon was had by all. Good punting.

I was happy to see my missus pick the winner, also the trifecta. Very pleasant for her getting a nice return.
Then, WTF: a protest ! A gruelling wait , then protest upheld. Her trifecta, her spending plans , shattered.
