The Footy Almanac Manning Clark Cricket Dinner
You are invited to the annual Almanac cricket dinner, named in the memory of Australian historian and first class cricketer Manning Clark. This year our guest speaker is cricket writer Dan Brettig. Dan has written for Wisden, Wisden Australia, Inside Edge, The Cricketer and The Advertiser. These days his insights can be found on ESPNcricinfo. His book Whitewash to Whitewash, which looks at the turbulent days of Australian cricket from 2007 to 2014, was published early in 2015.
When: Thursday, January 28, 6.30 for 7pm
Where: Clyde Hotel, cnr Elgin and Cardigan Streets, Carlton
Cost: $65 for two courses (drinks at standard bar prices) – includes a copy of Whitewash to Whitewash*
($50 for Almanac members)
All welcome. [email protected]
*If you already have a copy of Whitewash to Whitewash you are welcome to an Almanac publication of your choice.
Very much looking forward to hearing Dan Brettig and catching up with Sebastian Clark (son of Manning) and all the Almanac crew.
Wish I was there. Whitewash is fantastic. Gives you a nuanced view of everyone, everyone comes out of it better, and worse. I.e. as people, not (social) media constructs.
Like Brettig’s work on cricinfo, too. Always worth a wander through his mind.
Hope it’s an unreal night. Someone ask him re the Fawad dilemma – he may reveal. Or save that for his next book…

Have a great night, all. CPJW!
Looking forward to it.
Well done Harmy.
Hi there John,
When will bookings close? I am hoping to be back in the country on the 28th but am not sure yet.
Cheers
We’ll keep a spot for you Tim.
