The ‘Frankenstein’ patchwork surface of the Sydney Showground for the Opening Round game between GWS and Hawthorn did not impress Greg A. But he was in awe of Giants’ debutant Phoenix Gothard who iced the match with three minutes left on the clock.

It has orange. Lots and lots of orange. The latest nomination for the cover of the 2016 Footy Almanac book comes from The Philby, who puts forward the jewel of Western Sydney, Spotless Stadium, as being cover worthy.
