A fitting tribute to the great Jimmy Jess – CHF/CHB in the Tigers 1980 flag. Funny spelling but. He’s aged – but haven’t we all?

  2. E.regnans says:

    Brilliant.

“When the short days of winter came, dusk fell before we had well eaten our dinners. When we met in the street the houses had grown sombre. The space of sky above us was the colour of ever-changing violet and towards it the lamps of the street lifted their feeble lanterns. The cold air stung us and we played till our bodies glowed. Our shouts echoed in the silent street.”

  3. “When the short days of winter came, dusk fell before we had well eaten our dinners. When we met in the lane off Lennox the houses had grown sombre. The space of sky above us was the colour of ever-changing violet and towards it the lamps of the street lifted their feeble lanterns. The cold air stung us and we kicked the bound Herald till our bodies glowed. Our shouts echoed in the silent street.”

    See how it converts!

  4. Mulcaster says:

    “The prick with a stick”

  5. Michael Cunningham says:

Speaking of St Andrews, which you are elsewhere, John, walked into the Clubhouse there (the one the public can go into, at Hole 1 of the New Course) and out runs a 9-year-old girl in a Richmond jumper!

“Hey, are you from Melbourne?” we ask?

    “Nah, Darwin”, she replies….

Her family followed – all Tigers’ supporters., and we have a natter. Small world.

(The son had just seen a PR photo-shoot setup inside using the real Jug (this was two weeks ago, before the start of play) and Dad asked if he could get a photo with the trophy. The PR people happily handed it to the kid, and said, “Go for it.” We saw it being driven away in a small crate on the back of a golf-buggy, just like a normal trophy.)

  6. Michael, the Australian footy jumper spotted overseas will put a smile on your face.
