Gold! Gold! Gold! Aussies lead medal count after first day of competition at the Commonwealth Games


Five gold medals, two World Records, and one Commonwealth Games Record give the Aussies a flying start in the pool and at the Velodrome.


The Women’s 4 x 100m Freestyle team scored gold in World Record time with Cate Campbell swimming the fastest female freestyle swimming split in history.


Mack Horton continued his good form in the pool with gold in the 400m freestyle while at the velodrome three more gold medals were won.


The Men’s Pursuit Team scored gold breaking the World Record in doing so, while the Women’s Pursuit team created a Commonwealth Games record with their win, and Stephanie Morton and Kaarle McCulloch also won gold in the Women’s Team Sprint.
