Fearless 2017 Round 12 – Queensland Footy… Maybe the signs of life are truly there!

FEARLESS 2017 Round 12 –  Queensland Footy… Maybe the signs of life are truly there!

(BYES TO: Geelong, North Melbourne, Richmond and West Coast)(NB Port and Gold Coast bye Round 9)

It was raining swans and dogs in Sydney for the last few days and so Kurt Tipout was dropped for the grand final re-re-match. An even first half probably kept the Dogs in the contest due to Swans’ wastefulness in the forward 50. A defensive tag on Norm Smith Medallist JJ by Hewett helped stop the Dogs. Buddy 3.5 Swans took to lake SCG well while Dogs drowned. Swans 46pts. Kennedy 37.

Saints turned sinners on the trip to the City of Churches to play the Crows. Without They Call Me Bruce kicking 4, the Saints would’ve been beaten by more than 57pts. Adelaide returned to the winners list in emphatic style from the start, despite Seb Ross’ 39 stats. Laird, M Crouch, Douglas, Smith and Atkins all posted large stat numbers and the forward 50 was buzzing as Tex, Jerker and ex-Saint/Beauy ranga Lynch kicked 3 each. The Crows were emphatically too good. Coach Richo has some Saintly concerns.

Gold Coast took on the Hawks again in 2017 this time at the G. Gazza put on a master class racking up 37 stats. Jack Gunston’s 5 helped the Hawks back into the game, despite Suns lead reaching 43pts at one stage. Rocket didn’t quite have to give them a rocket, but did urge greater intensity from and got it. The Hawks surged back but only enough to get Clarko another job for the plasterer. Tom Mitchell’s 39 stamps his worth yet again to the Hawks. May, 24, same for Sunnyboys, holding on by 16pts.

Buoyed by the Love Schache’s signature, Brisbane showed promise in totally demolishing Ross’s Freo Reno at the Gabbatoir. The Purple Haze got lost in the Mask of Zorko, Dayne Zorko inspiring his teammates with 30 stats and 2 goals, helped by inspirational skipper D Beams, 36, and Lewie The Fly Taylor buzzing around with 4 goals. It all started with Lionhearted ruckman Martin, relishing the absence of Big Sandi. Lions by 57pts. Lion cubs Mayes, Mathieson, Barrett, Robertson good. Cutler 3.

Port had been in good form up until this point of 2017 but a 70pt loss to the Bombers might have any asking did they get ahead of themselves at Etihad on Saturday night. Port were powerless to stop the red and black army who could do no wrong from start to finish. Hooker was prominent up forward all night with 5 assisted by Walla Tipungwuti and Joe D with 4. Zach Merrett 38, Heppell 34 stats stars.

17th took on 1st on Sunday at Etihad and a 1pt win either suggests that 17th tried hard or 1st got out of jail. For Bolton’s Blues to serve up a 4-qtr effort like that against the GWS team many suggested was akin to a Ferrari, shows that the future has promise at Ikon/Optus/Princes. The Ferrari might have driven into town thinking it might just show up to get the points. If so, poor attitude. Kreuzer led the Blues from the front and the forgotten man Liam Jones, held down the back effort, especially important after ASOS went off injured. Carlton home by 1pt to show everyone how even the comp is.

QB Monday has taken off with Big Freeze and FightMND synonymous with the day. Critically the game took on massive significance for both the Dees and the Pies when many games of late hadn’t. A strong Dees start got swamped by a stirling 2nd qtr by the Pies with 7 goals to 2. The Dees fought back with a 6:2 goal 3rd qtr, leaving a 1pt margin at the last break. Between Howe’s acrobatics, Jack Watts’ heroics at both ends and a starring effort by the Italian Stallion Petracca, 3 goals, the Dees got home by 4pts.
