Bounce and The Golden Fist…what a great way to bring families together. Every Sunday since I was seven, I sit and watch Biunce with Dad. No one can ever fill that seat. A light lost. He just wanted to play footy.
Great competitor, fantastic loyal Saint, loved watching him and Bunghole on The Bounce taking the piss out of each other. Will miss him even though I never met him or knew him other than his TV persona, RIP Spud Regis
Sad to hear. I saw Jonathon Brown and Paul Roos interviewed – JB very upset.
RIP Spud.
I have never seen him playing but understand Danny was a long serving St Kilda captain.
However I have seen him on Bounce program on Fox Footy. He had a great sense of humour. I liked him a lot.
You were the legend, Danny.
RIP Spud
It always comes as a great shock when someone much loved dies suddenly, Spud will be missed.
Back in 2014, a great friend of mine, champion southpaw baseball pitcher Peter Box, just turned 85 and fit as a mallee bull, died suddenly when driving his car. The SA baseball community was shocked. Champion baseballer Neil Page rang me with the news as he knew how close to Mrs Fisho and me Pete had become.
Moments ago I discovered the news of Spud’s demise on the Almanac and whilst I didn’t know him personally (obviously), I loved his sense of fun on Bounce and the banter between him and the others.
Too many legends falling off the perch. RIP Danny
I’m stunned and shocked. He’s a St Kilda legend and loved by us all. He will be missed so much.
Vale Spud
In a business where we all too readily label the participants as villains and criticise them for being soft, arrogant etc etc, I can honestly say I don’t recall a bad word being said about “Spud” by anyone in the football world. A great competitor and a great bloke. So sad.
His quote in this link about isolation, heck, I do a lot of that.
