Almanac Rugby League – Tommy: the last word
Roy Masters is widely regarded as one of the code’s great coaches. In his stint at Western Suburbs Magpies in the late 70s and early 80s, he developed the ‘fibros versus silvertails’ mentality among his players, among them Tommy Raudonikis. Masters is also known as an outstanding journalist and commentator, respected particularly for his analytical skills.
When you bring these two threads together, you have someone both well placed and highly competent to analyse, assess and discuss the essence of Tommy. Last week, Masters paid tribute to Tommy in his opinion column in The Sydney Morning Herald.
So let’s leave the last word about Tommy to Roy.
