Almanac/Odd Friday Lunch: Anthony Koutoufides tomorrow June 15

In 1995 with the Blues’ 16th Cup

The next Footy Almanac (and Odd Friday) Lunch will be with Anthony Koutoufides.

Anthony ‘Kouta’ Koutoufides played 278 games for Carlton between 1992 and 2007. He was an All Australian, twice best and fairest, leading goalkicker, team captain, premiership player, and has been inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame.

From Greek & Italian heritage he is in both the Greek and Italian Teams of the Century. Before football he was a high achieving track & field athlete. He was the Australian under 16 high jump champion and then won the under 17 National title in 110m hurdles, as well as successfully competing in decathlon & discus.

As a footballer the athletic ‘Kouta’ was able to play in any position from ruck to rover; a star of the game with a strong mark and an extraordinary ability to pick the ball up one handed.

After his playing career he became a TV celebrity which included winning Dancing with the Stars & starring in The Gladiators. He has been a little disappointed at not being able to play a role at Carlton since his playing career ended.

Lunch will kick off around 1:05PM, if you’re keen on attending please call the North Fitzroy Arms (9486 4501) or send an email to: [email protected]
