Another intriguing cover for The Furphy Anthology from Design by Committee.
The Furphy Anthology 2025 was launched at a terrific event at the All Nations Hotel in Richmond a couple of Thursdays ago.
It’s available for purchase HERE.
The collection features the fifteen stories that made the short list of The Furphy Literary Award for 2025, including the winners: first, Serena Moss, second, Charlotte Askew and third, Amy L. Montague.
On the night, Serena Moss was beamed in via video from Western Australia, while Charlotte Askew arrived in Melbourne that very morning (from San Marcos in Texas where she teaches writing while pursuing her own graduate studies).

Charlotte with Sam and Adam Furphy.
Amy L. Montague was in attendance with hubby Lachlan. We were hoping he was a Capulet but, alas, he is also a Montague.

Amy with the Cousins Furphy.

Left to right: JTH (judge and MC), finalist Melanie Wild (representing Far North Queensland, Brisbane and Union College), Stephanie Holt (judge), Damian ‘Dips’ O’Donnell (finalist), Anson Cameron (judge), Emma Westwood (finalist), Kym Tyzack (finalist for the second time) and Charlotte.
Again, congratulations to Footy Almanac stalwarts Emma Westwood and Dips O’Donnell for making the 2025 short list.
Stories can be submitted for The Furphy Literary Award for 2026 from February 1. You’ll find more information about the Award and how to enter HERE.
