Very sorry to hear about the passing of your dear Mum, John.
May she rest in peace after a very fine innings.
Terribly sad news. The whole ODonnell family passes its condolences and thoughts to the Harms family.
Hi John
Reading the wonderful tribute you paid your mother on FB brought up a tear or three, while at the same time I was lifted by the caring and generosity of such a close and big hearted family. Your mum Fay sounds impressive and deeply loved. Please accept our love, deepest sympathy and virtual hugs on your loss xx
Hi John
As Rick wrote above, the FB tribute was a wonderful, and emotional read.
To you and the wider Harms family, prayers and thoughts

I learned a lot from your glorious tribute to “Nanna” John. My love to you and all the Harms family.

Condolences John & family. Community is everything to you JTH. You have built your flock without a dog collar & the Almanac community is testament to the values your parents imprinted.
Thinking of you fondly John. It’s certainly one of life’s big moments – and challenges – when you lose your parents. It’s evident from all we know about you through your writing that your father and mother were remarkable people.
Heraclitus
They told me, Heraclitus, they told me you were dead,
They brought me bitter news to hear and bitter tears to shed.
I wept, as I remembered, how often you and I
Had tired the sun with talking and sent him down the sky.
And now that thou art lying, my dear old Carian guest,
A handful of grey ashes, long long ago at rest,
Still are thy pleasant voices, thy nightingales, awake;
For Death, he taketh all away, but them he cannot take.
Sarah and I send our love, JTH.
Can we have the FB tribute on here? I’m not an FBer.
Thanks Rick Kane for pointing us to John’s wonderfully moving account on fb of the closing chapter of his mother’s life. I hadn’t seen it prior to my earlier post. Since, if we’re fortunate enough to have the gift of devoted parents, we can never repay them for what they have given us, we can only hope to do our best in our own lives – and especially in our parenting. John, you’ve honoured your parents’ example.
I hope that Anson’s request can be fulfilled.
Condolences John and family, it is never easy to lose your mum, no matter how old you are. Find peace in all the good memories xxx
My prayers with you and your family at a difficult time in life.
Underneath are the everlasting arms
Sorry for your loss John,
Thinking of you and your family at this time
