Almanac Film: ‘Ange & The Boss – Puskás In Australia’ – a pearler of a film!

Ange & The Boss – Puskás In Australia is a remarkable and compelling independent film produced by good friend of The Footy Almanac, Tony Wilson, and his fellow producer Cam Fink. Their collaboration has yielded ‘a pearler of a film’ that captures the essence of football history in Australia and is now being released in theatres Australia wide.
The film captures the story of Ferenc Puskas, a Hungarian international superstar of the 50s and 60s on the world soccer stage. With very little English, the overweight Puskas coached South Melbourne Hellas to a ‘ a dramatic 1991 NSL Championship win’ while ‘eating and laughing along the way’. The captain of his team was former Australian soccer coach and now coach of Tottenham Hotspurs, Ange Postecoglou. Both player and coach developed a wonderful relationship with each other.
The film covers many aspects about the growth of soccer in Australia particularly the important role migrant footballers played with the establishment of soccer clubs aligned to countries of their birth to further the development of the game. Archival footage of players and matches of the era provides an added delight to the film. This is indeed a must see film for anyone interested in sport and a real treat for all soccer fans.
Over the weekend of 15–16 March, Ange & The Boss – Puskas in Australia will screen in Palace cinemas in every state of Australia. Also a four-state Q&A tour has been booked. Click Here for details of all screenings and Q&As.
