Australia v India – First Test: The summer of Test cricket starts today!

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The First (Vodaphone) Test between Australia and India gets underway at the Adelaide Oval this afternoon from 2.30pm local time. Final team line-ups are not available at the time of writing but the latest buzz is that Joe Burns will get a run while Cameron Green will make his debut subject to a late fitness test. We’ll see.

We can assure Almanac readers that our own expert observers will be in place to keep you up to date with all the action. ‘Citrus’ Bob Utber (aka Citrus Bob Über because he travels around Australia to all the Tests), veteran cricket tragic and Almanacker par excellence, will head up our daily reports alongside a rolling team of contributors.

At this stage, the seasoned ‘Smokie’ Dawson will add his insights after Day 1 while up-and-comer Sean Mortell will supply his take after Day 2. Feel free to add your name to our team of scribes to cover a day’s play throughout the four Tests or join in the ongoing discussion via our designated match Blog.

Perhaps the return of Test cricket suggests that we’re edging ever closer to a return to something resembling ‘normality’. Here’s hoping!

‘Play!’
