The Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The 2020/21 domestic Test season begins today with Australia taking on India at the Adelaide Oval from 2.30pm local time. It promises to be an interesting series between two of the hardest playing teams in the game. Both will be looking to gain the upper hand to cement a place in the final of the World Test Championship at Lord’s next year. New Zealand’s recent 2-0 win over West Indies has them breathing down the necks of both teams, so it’s not just the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on the line over the coming weeks.

India has had a solid preparation in their lead-up matches but will lose captain Virat Kohli after the First Test when he returns home for the arrival of his first child. The Australians have been beset by modest form and multiple injuries as they head into the game. Throw in a pink ball opener and we’re sure to be off to a fascinating start to the series.

  1. Hello Australian Changing rooms
    Is Joe there ?
Sorry he’s just gone out to bat
    It’s ok I’ll hold thanks ( a oldie but a goldie)

  2. Can hardly wait for this one. Just received word my Thursday nurse will be visiting me at 1;00 so she won;t be interupting my viewing. Sure hope Australia is batting first Certainly be interesting to see our team list. Also I am really looking forward to all the comments, especially from Bernard, Swish and especially Rulebook.

  3. Where have the bookies set the Under/Over for Joe Burns? 20 runs? 30 minutes? Can you take them as a multi?

  4. India won the toss and will bat. Burns and Wade will open when Australia takes the crease. Cameron Green to debut.

  5. Gritty first 45 minutes after Starc’s early strike. Hazlewood very tight, Pujara’s feet a little leaden. Need Kohli in early.

  6. What a peach of a ball by Cummins! It’s all set up for a real dog fight in the second session. Aussies just in front at the moment but it’s quite a batting line-up.

    Adelaide Oval looks magnificent.

  7. Colin Ritchie says

Evenly placed at the moment. Kohli biding his time, Pujara blunting the attack. Bowling has been good and operating to a plan. Should be an entertaining session coming up.

  8. Loving Hazlewood v Kohli. Classic battle of two outstanding players.

  9. Aussies with their noses in front at stumps but will need to restrict things when play resumes tomorrow. The Cummins delivery the highlight of the day.
