Update on The Women’s Footy Almanac (attention all AFLW contributors!)

Hello Almanackers,

We have received a multitude of fantastic submissions about the AFLW, from match reports to comment pieces and memoirs and combinations of all those styles. So many pieces that sometimes it’s been impossible to choose which match reports we would like in our first ever women’s footy book!

We want to give everyone a chance to have their voice added to the collection. We have some open spaces that need filling.

We are looking for a contributor for:

  • Round 5 – Fremantle v Collingwood:  We’d love a Collingwood voice to match a Freo supporter’s account of the game.
  • Young female voice – If you have a young daughter, granddaughter, niece, or family friend who is a women’s footy fan, we’d love for her to write a piece on her experience with the AFLW as a foreword for our book.

Also, if you haven’t yet been selected to have a piece in the book, we’re coming in to the final round! We’d love to include you, so make sure you get something in to us about the Round 7 matches. Or a piece reflecting on what’s happened.

We are committed to publishing a printed version of The Women’s Footy Almanac thanks to our sponsors Ethical Investment Services, Voila Hair & Beauty, Deakin Uni, and Sasha Lennon. Yvette Wroby has agreed to underwrite the remaining costs. But if anyone else is interested in supporting as a sponsor or as a personal patron we’d love to hear from you.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with Yvette, John or me (Steph). Best to start with the spiritual leader’s email: [email protected]
 We’re loving this.

About

Steph was told at an early age that, in the Connell family, we're Carlton supporters. She's never questioned it. She's a university student, a wannabe editor and a lover of music.
