The Vicki Cleary Tribute Match
Coburg celebrated the life of Vicki Cleary, the sister of Phil as a prelude to the Coburg v Northern Blues match last Sunday (April 30).
Vicki was only 25 when she was murdered by her ex boyfriend 30 years ago.
Phil spoke in a passionate way before the match to the assembled crowd on how it is essential is it to end violence towards women. He was supported by a large group of people behind him which included Rosie Batty.
The crowd then observed one minute silence to honour those who have lost their lives.
Phil Cleary is a Coburg great, he played over 200 games for The Burgers and coached them to two premierships in 1988 and 1989.

It was a great initiative and sounds like a really emotional day, Rod. Phil speaks so passionately on the matter and the importance of footy clubs / communities in creating the right culture for the young men we grow in them. Carn the Burgers!
Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Good work all
