The Pig-Headed President

The pig-headed president
is like a politician,
he will play the public game
with intricate precision.

Always wears a flashy suit,
always wears a tie,
always shakes supporters hands,
and gives a toothy smile.

But if the Board dismisses him,
the man departs in haste,
and even if his team succeeds
he will not show his face.

  1. Colin Ritchie says

How true! Interesting to see what happens at Collingwood from now on.

  2. george smith says

Notice how Eddie has a strong resemblance to Ted Parker from the movie “The Club”, played by Graeme Kennedy, who also has a strong resemblance to Ted Whitten!

Mr Ballasone, right now being a Collingwood supporter may feel like Jean Valjean being pursued by Javert, Deputy Gerrard and the Terminator all at once, but I promise you it will get better…

Remember grand final day 1970, wooden spoon day (and leaving Vic Park) 1999, preliminary final day 1984 and the day they sacked Tommy Hafey. We have had it far worse than this. so hang in there. There are a couple of new kids who can play footy, and 2021 is a new season. Remember grand final replay day 2010. Things do get better, eventually.

  3. Haha, I thought this was written about Jeff Kennett!!

  4. I was just thinking that KNDole. Jeff’s given this piece a good promotion today. They are a weird breed those club presidents, aren’t they?
I had Ted Parker in mind for this one, particularly the final scene from ‘The Club’ when he is watching the Grand Final all alone in his mansion.
I like your optimism George. We all know what happened to Javert. Watch those Pies bounce back this year.
