The Galahs – New Australian Documentary (plus giveaways)

Tony Wilson’s The Galahs is now available on DVD! Don’t miss this legendary documentary about the first Victorian AFL stars who jetted off to Ireland in 1967 to challenge the All-Ireland champions, County Meath, at their own game.

Directed by Australian TV and radio personality Tony Wilson, The Galahs is a documentary feature telling the story of a group of legendary Victorian AFL (VFL) stars who jetted off to Ireland in 1967 to challenge the All-Ireland champions, County Meath, at their own game.

The players were, and are, household names – Barassi, Skilton, Jesaulenko, Davis, Hart, Nicholls, Mann, Dugdale, Fraser. With no passports to their names, ex-umpire and media juggernaut Harry Beitzel organised to fly his team of champions to Ireland, planting the seed of international competition and pioneering the formalised international rules series of subsequent decades.

A local doco with heart and history, we’re thrilled to be able to now bring it into footy lovers’ homes.

You can grab a copy here, or look out for it wherever good footy documentaries are sold.
