The Footy Art Show: Back to Basics

After a year off (unrelated to any ASADA enqiry) the Footy Art Show gets back to basics and returns to its home ground.

“Back to Basics” will be held at The Artist’s Garden, upstairs at 390 Brunswick St, Fitzroy, Vic, with works from 25 artists, including Yvette Wroby and Kate Birrell, presenting images of what first attracted them to football. Click here for the official invite.

The show will be opened by Sam Pang on Friday, September 6 at 6pm. The exhibition will conclude on Sunday, October 6 at 5pm.

  1. Excited to be part of the Footy Art exhibition again…
& to show my new photo collage “Sons of the West” – which includes photos of the Whitten Oval before it’s ‘upgrade’ in ’07…
so many stories associated with the old ground, ‘back to basics’ is where the heart is!

Good luck with the footy exhibition Carmel and Yvette. The ‘Sons of the West’ photos caught my eye. Is there any chance of putting them up on the Almanac website at a later date for those who can’t attend?
Actually, just checking my diary, I might be able to see it on the last day, October 6th. I have a play being performed as part of the National Playwright Competition on the Saturday and will be heading home to the western district past Brunswick on the Sunday. So tell them not to ‘bump out’ until late in the afternoon.
Saw Sam Pang on a panel show last night and he will be the ideal person to open the exhibition.
    Neil.

  3. Thanks Neil… hope you do get to see the show… could post up on Almanac possibly but will post on my website in next day or two. Good luck for the playwright comp! Hope to hear about that… & will keep the prints up as long as poss. Cheers, Carmel
Son, Tom (an Almanacker) looking fwd to seeing Sam Pang on the night.
