The Footy Almanac Podcast – Episode 17 Part One

Greetings Almanackers, We have a special treat for you with this week’s podcast.

Trevor Marmalade is a household name thanks to his work as a stand-up comic as well as TV stints on Hey Hey Its Saturday and as the ‘Man Behind the Bar on Channel 9s AFL Footy Show.

We were fortunate enough to coax him onto the couch for episode 17 and over the coming days we’ll be releasing this special, extended chat in which Trev opens up about his time as part of Melbourne’s comedy scene, we go behind the scenes of The Footy Show, as well as talking with Trev about his love of the punt and his mighty Rooboys.

In part one, Trev yarns about his ol Dad emigrating from Holland to Australia and how his love of a drink was ‘the start of a beautiful friendship’ to quote Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca. We also hear about his early days in Melbourne’s comedy scene including his time at Le Joke and The Comedy Club, as well as the classic Punter To Punter show on Triple R, and later 3XY.

Sit back, open a bottle of your favourite Murrindidni wine and enjoy part one of Trevor Marmalade on the Almanac couch.

  1. Malcolm Ashwood says

Fantastic guys he is certainly a Roos tragic , v enjoyable

  2. Loved it guys. A real trip down memory lane about the alternative culture scene in the 70’s and 80’s. I could hear the Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band in the background singing Wangaratta Wahine.
By the time I had finished listening to Trev’s footy preview I was thinking the Kangas could go premiers. He could sell ice to eskimos. And the description of his Dad was priceless. Honest, cutting and kind in a way only a true wordsmith could do.
    Thanks poddies.

  3. Mark 'Swish' Schwerdt says

Gold gold gold, everyone wants to be Trev, is there anything he can’t talk about with authority?

  4. Brilliant Pod boys. Trev is a beauty. Melbourne was the centre of the universe in the early 80s. And Trev was in the middle of that.
