The Footy Almanac 2014, Melbourne Launch, Waterside Hotel
The Footy Almanac 2014 was launched by Enzo Spangher, father of Matt (who is featured on the cover), at the Waterside Hotel not far from Docklands Stadium.
It’s always a cracking night – and this one was no exception. There is reason to celebrate: another season of the game we love has left us with many memories, the premier revealed and revered (by some), and the recording of the tale by our squad of writers.
The Waterside Hotel did a terrific job. Thanks to Stacey and staff.
Here’s a few photos.
Yvette Wroby with artist Susan Sutton who painted this year’s cover.
Enzo, in fine form, with JTH. Enzo let us in on a few family stories and was a very popular launcher.
Paddy Grindlay looking suitably humble. Paddy is simply amazing for 13 years old: a lovely writer, passion for everything he throws himself into, and a reassuring sense of perspective. The Richmond wilderness is clearly character-building.
Another of the kids, Kaisha Thompson, with her Dad Crash. Kaisha is eight and wrote a report of the Hawks prelim final win over Port Adelaide, while Crash wrote one of the Grand Final reports.
Thanks to everyone who came along. The tradition continues.
If you were unable to come and would like to get a copy of the book you can order one by email or order via our website

Hi the administrations and Yvette,
Thanks for sharing photos. They are nice and make me wish to have been there.
I am glad to see talented kids there.
Cheers
