The dam almanac Majors challenge.
Select 5 tennis players and 5 golfers. They become your team for the Majors throughout 2016.
There are however some rules. You can’t just pick anyone.
We all love the stars. But it seems to the point of obsession with the result that insufficient attention is given to other players.
The dam almanac Majors challenge addresses that.
The selection criteria is:
Player 1 is a player ranked 6 or more
Player 2 is a player ranked 11 or more
Player 3 is a player ranked 21 or more
Player 4 is a player ranked 51 or more
Player 5 is a player ranked 101 or more
The rankings are as at today’s date.
So no Djokovic, Murray, Federer, Wawrinka or Nadal
Also no Speith, Day, McIlroy, Bubba or Stenson.
For example the dam teams are as follows:
The dam tennis team is:
– Jo Wilfred Tsonga
– Bernard Tomic
– Grigor Dimitrov
– Alexandr Zverev
– Mikhail Youzhny
The impressive dam golfers are:
– Justin Rose
– Adam Scott
– Charl Schwartzel
– Luke Donald
– Jason Dufner
Who will be in your team?
The scoring system is – the best four of the five players count.
For tennis, the Grand Slam winner receives 32, runner up 31, losing semi’s 29, losing quarters 25 etc down to one point.
For golf, the majors winner is awarded 32, runner up 31 down to 32 and ties who receive a point.
And just remember. You don’t win a car! But you will have the warm inner glow of knowing you are the “2016 dam almanac majors” champion. You will win an autographed copy of the Footy Almanac (you have paid for it anyway). At the end of year function, you will be feted in front of your peers and perhaps, toasted – that is of course if anyone remembers.
Look forward to your entry. Put it by way of “comment” so it’s there for all to see.
