The Ashes – Second Test: Cricket Snicks 3 with Citrus Bob

CRICKET SNICKS 3
Did Ben Stokes like the team he was given by Messrs Key and McCullum? The fact that the spinner has only bowled a couple of overs with the score 8/450 says something.
His frustrations with his (Stokes) fast attack really came out when he bowled more than most of them. Hard to see them getting Australia out in their second dig if they need one.
Must confess I was watching the Test match between New Zealand and the West Indies at Hagley Park today. WI needed to create a record 532 runs in the fourth innings. Time ran out on them. Greaves 202 not out, Hope 140 and Roach 58 not out got them within 75 runs when time ran out. Windies were 6/457
Good to see a cricket team (West Indies) with no bloody advertisements emblazoned all over their shirts. Pure cricket at its best. On the other hand they probably lack any big sponsors to help keep them afloat.
My fellow team member Heather Lee aka ‘Shrek’s Wife’ put the cat amongst the pigeons when she declared that spitting should be banned. Dedicated spitaroos in Ben Stokes and SPD Smith would not agree that’s for sure. See Heather’s Day 2 report.
I think I know my cricket but I am not sure which town in England Joffra Archer is Mayor. The necklace he wears must come from some municipality. You would think it would be a weight around his neck.
Look out here he comes Sam Konstas has hit a century against Queensland. Lucky Joh’s long gone or he would be saying “plenty of food for the chooks”. Surely the Australian boffins (selectors) won’t fall for the cackling of the chooks this time.
Boland and Starc are still there after 90 minutes and have put on over 50 runs. Can’t see the Aussies having to bat again on this docile pitch. Starc’s driving has been superb and I don’t think Scotty has ever batted for so long.
Watch out for Dashing Dan’s report later tonight on the day’s play.
NB: In case you are wondering about the significance of the Star Wars’ characters at the Brisbane Tests, Citrus Bob chatted with the instigator of the group and featured the crew in his Footy Almanac article from Day 3 of the First Test against Pakistan in 2019. -Ed.

You can’t blame the English battersmens for wanting to watch the last 9 holes of the golf at Royal Melbourne on Sunday.
PETER-B Why there are no Britons in the the mix
There aren’t any top English players in world golf at the moment. Rory is Northern Irish. Bob MacIntyre the left handed Scot is the next best British player in the world.
You don’t get top world players coming to Australia at the end of a long season for limited prize money (by world standards). Unless they are getting huge appearance money like Rory who will get more than the winner for turning up.
CB yes I was following the NZ v WI score. While want the aussies to win it’s anti climax as it really should be close between these two sides.Australia better fielding side and have in general taken there chances and displayed far more cricket common sense overall
