Old (Woollen) Footy Jumpers – Studfield Hawks Junior FC: Sasha Lennon

Sasha Junior footy club c1981

Where is Sasha Lennon?

Sasha writes:

Here is a pic of me (in my itchy woollen jumper) as worn by us boys at Studfield Hawks, circa 1981.  Studfield is one of Barry Humphries’ suburbs in-between, in Melbourne’s outer south-east, nestled somewhere between Wantirna South, Boronia and Bayswater.

[Sasha, who was born in Melbourne to Irish parents (which effectively makes him Irish), went on to be a top-class Gaelic footballer (playing for Queensland in 1999), and is a life member of John Mitchels Gaelic Football Club in Brisbane].

    Hi Sasha
My husband played for Studfield junior football team. He was wondering where they are based from ( a club) and home ground?
He played till 1989. His name was Richard Goldsmith.
If you could help out with these answers that would be great!
    Thank you.

I played in that team in 81. My dad was the medic. He was in the white overalls in the back row of the photo. Im in the front row. Chris Pritchard

  5. Not a bad jumper, looks a bit like the old West Torrens number.

I often wondered if there were any other Gaelic footballers here, now I know of at least one; and a Queenslander to boot!
