If, in another place and time,
reason was in sync with rhyme,
then the Iceman Shane Morwood
would have represented Norwood.

Nice work Damian.
S.Morwood to me never looked quite right without his moustache…
Cheers Luke (and Jase). Silly rhymes aside, what a great, versatile footballer Shane Morwood was. Played more on the back-flank & back-pocket in ’89-90, but what a season he had at full back in ’88. Rarely beaten. And then in ’91 he answers the call and goes forward, reinventing himself as a creative half-forward. I also seem to recall him playing on the wing in ’86 and hitting BT on the lead with some pinpoint left foot passes.
My first memories of him are as a full-back in ’88. Played in the Big V around 88, 89 I think??
Wonderful player.
Very good in the 1990 Finals.
Correct, he was All-Australian in ’88 (or VFL Team of the Year as it was then known) and polled 13 Brownlow votes. I think he had 32 touches for the Big V in that ’89 State game, sweeping up across the half-back line in front of 91,960.
