True believers, all,
That was fantastic.
A really great effort across the paddock for the whole game.
My apologies to Adam Oxley for even suggesting he be dropped last week; what was I thinking – fantastic. Same Marley Williams, my apologies to him too. Crisp, Adams , Langdon, Pendles and Swanny were all amongst the Best.
My only grave concern remains our ruck. While I love Grundy’s performance ‘around the ground’ and he continues to be picked amongst the ‘Best’, we were hammered in the ruck: Centre: 19 to 9; Hit-outs: 49 to 27. Our Back 6 routinely halted this momentum and that’s where our drive forward came from, but against better sides we will suffer. Solution? I’m also not convinced our Forward line is the best it can be – yes to Trav at CHF, crumbers doing really well, options forward of CHF?
Watch Seedsman’s injury.
Great performance by the Twos as well. Matt Scharenberg got through his first return match. Jordan De Goey and Jonathon Marsh did well; as did another Pendlebury.
This week: Geelong. I like beating them just slightly behind Essendon, just behind Carlton. Geelong are overdue for a decent performance, noting their win against Richmond was from a five goal Half Time lead. What a month it has been. More on this later.
A fellow Ture Believer alerted me to this gem of a video from a young African choir singing ‘Good Old Collingwood. Check it out!
Thanks to everyone for their feedback after the game; let’s get some comments beforehand too?
Did you catch any of the other games? St Kilda (without Riewoldt) were so unlucky not to beat Essendon (that last kick 10m out from an open goal) but former GWS boy, Josh Bruce, did well, booting 5.
Richmond were also unlucky not to beat Geelong coming back from a serious Half Time deficit; and the Bulldogs nailed Sydney.
But Hawthorn taught North a lesson or two; now lets see how many weeks Hodge and Lewis get at the MRT.
Port and Freo continue to run hard.
It’s turning into a fascinating season.
Dr – I’ll get excited about the Pies when they beat someone. But their young blokes are very impressive. Especially Broomhead.
Can’t wait for Pies vs Eagles. Be like the Winter Olympics
