Round 20 – Fixture for Round 20: A very, very interesting round of matches!
Round 20
North Melbourne v Hawthorn 14 v 11
Essendon v Port Adelaide 7 v 10
GWS v Sydney 5 v 15
Fremantle v Geelong 12 v 1
Melbourne v Richmond 17 v 4
Adelaide v St Kilda. 8 v 13
Collingwood v Gold Coast Suns 6 v 18
Carlton v West Coast Eagles 16 v 2
Brisbane v Western Bulldogs 3 v 9
None of the top 8 play one another this round.
Four games will create the most interest this round.
The Bulldogs are out of the 8 on percentage and will have a tough game against the improved Brisbane who sit in 3rdposition. The Bulldogs are gaining in confidence and will be hoping a win puts them into the 8. The result of the Adelaide v St Kilda match will have a huge bearing on whether the Bulldogs go into 8, that is if the Bulldogs win and the Crows lose.
The Crows have had a terrible few weeks and will be keen to redeem their fortunes but their match against the Saints will have them and their supporters nervous about the possible outcome. A must win for the Crows if they are to recapture their momentum and a place in the 8. A win for the Saints will place them within striking distance of the 8 depending upon the results of other games.
Port Adelaide are also a game outside the 8 and they must beat the Bombers, hope both Bulldogs and Adelaide lose to perhaps sneak back into the 8 but a must win for them if they are to remain in the race for the finals.
Hawthorn is on 8 wins together with the Saints, Freo and PA. Their match against North is also a must win game for the Hawks, and again depending on other results will determine whether the Hawks still have a chance to play finals.
A very, very interesting Round 20 of matches!

This is the first game of the Hawks 8 round final series and we must win every freakin game! It wouldn’t hurt to win by lots because by God (or more correctly the Gods – we need every single one of em) our percentage could be better. Sorry Roos supporters, but to get where we’re going we have to run you over and around and down and then outa town. Then next week we face the Giants. Man, this is one frickin steep hill. Cheers
And it’s goodnight from us then.
Whilst i would dearly love to see the Crows turn their fortunes around, I fear they are in for yet another shellacking. Ridiculous team selections – wrong players dropped and wrong players brought back in. Actually a win would only paper over the numerous cracks in this grossly under performing side. At least Eddie’s back but why isn’t Greenwood also back – bloody ridiculous.
On a brighter note, Hawthorn went under again. Now if only Collingwood and the Power get tossed (and the Poms collapse in the cricket) the weekend will finish on a high note.
