Round 2 – Cam Hooke’s Collingwood Life: Not much fun, that…

True Believers, all…

Not much fun, that.  And I understand the final score flattered us (56 point lead to Adelaide at Three Quarter Time; we kicked the last five goals).

Ground Reports?  Was anyone there?  Or even reports from those who watched it on TV?

The single text advice I got from one of our number was “Hope you didn’t find somewhere to watch the game.  We’re terrible“.  Thanks for that.

I didn’t watch the game; went to Manuka instead.

Along with everyone else there I was actively considering going home at half time – Melbourne were cruising against a lack lustre GWS.  It was such a one-sided game.  And then it changed.  Well done to the Giants.  They deserved the win.  In a game of extraordinary goals, the one by Jeremy Cameron was extraordinary (just in front of us – he was as surprised and delighted as we were).

Of the former Pies in action?  Heater – solid; Dawesy useful early on off the half forward line (the ball didn’t get forward much in the second half) and Harry – gave away a few free kicks.  Amazing the number of mixed messages amongst the spectators – Collingwood shirts or jumpers and GWS hats. GWS are back at Manuka for the late game on Anzac Day, so you can catch both games.  Oh yes, thanks McDonalds for the Big Macs in recognition of the win.  When it was announced at half time there didn’t seem to be the slightest chance that we’d collect.

Next Week: St Kilda on Friday at the G (and then Essendon on Anzac Day).

How long has it been since Geelong were at the bottom of the Ladder?  Not that I’m complaining about that.

Go Pies.
