Round 16 – Sal’s Preview: The next ones

Greetings All,

It’s weeknight footy to keep all us Victorians occupied!

Deesperate ($1.52) vs It’s Mundy Night ($2.90)

Plenty paid the price for the Demons after their loss to Sydney and now have a tough challenge to qualify for the finals.  They take on Freo who are not in contention but could shape the eight with this encounter and a final round date with the Bulldogs.  This match lines up similarly to the Swans game – Freo have a reasonable line up in and the Dees can not afford to fluff their lines.  Don’t think they will tonight.  As an aside, great to have Hogan and Schultz on the same team!

Nicked One ($3.95) vs Blue Collared ($1.32)

The Crows got one on the board for Matty Nicks and themselves and get to host the Giants who played rope-a-dope with Carlton to take them late.  They lose a few in the process with Kelly still feeling the effects of the blow a couple of weeks ago.  Mummy being rested should see Jacobs in against his old club.  Nicks will have a bit of fodder from his time at GWS and they a relatively healthy.  Bouyed by the victory, at home and the Giants propensity to stuff their lines going for the upset here.

Deck of Cards ($1.57) vs Deemolishers ($2.66)

David Teague is right that the Blues motivation needs to be on improvement and not the miniscule chance they have to play finals.  Something he needs to get right among the group is resilience when the opposition turn up the heat as they folded yet again.  They get the Swans who will play with heat from the first bounce and will be a real challenge for them.  Kennedy and Parker have a couple of handy mates in the middle now in Rowbottom and Florent and have a pretty settled line up.  The Blues should generate enough inside 50 to win, provided they can be more efficient than last week can win.

Hamstrung ($1.36) vs Dewly Delivered ($3.70)

Harris Andrews injury creates a gaping hole in the Brisbane defense, how they would love to have Marcus Adams available.  They host their neighbours who got their much deserved win on the board over the Kangaroos and will present a spirited effort aiming for the Kings of Queensland.  To much on this for the Lions and expecting them to prevail.

Cheers, Sal
