Round 14 – Sal’s Preview: Back to the Thursday Grind!

Greetings All,

Aaaah Thursday Night Footy- Grrrr.  Tough to tip and time is short.

Dog Catchers ($1.64) vs In Danger ($2.52)

Port again showed their love of the Loungeroom getting over the Dogs, they host the other domestic pets this week.  They should be a bit wilder with the return of Dangerfield, their form certainly tapered off during his absence.  With Duncan and Holmes also included they look a much stronger line up but need to be facing the rampant Power.  Port’s form looks too strong and a home ground advantage is in their favour, although the Cats do have a positive record at the venue.  Expect a great contest and something just says the Cats can win this one.

G Whizz ($1.26) vs Ramping Up ($4.50)

Brisbane get back to the Gabba but their premiership credentials took a battering last week, you have to be able to play the MCG.  They get one more crack at the venue before finals against Melbourne in a few weeks.  Back in their comfort zone this week hosting Sydney who should get one of their keys back in Dane Rampe.  Expect the Lions to get back on the winners list.

Parramatta ($1.94) vs Ashes to Aishes ($2.04)

GWS get back home after their win in Hobart – it will be welcome against Freo.  The Dockers have won the last three encounters but none of them at the Showgrounds.  Giants likely to be strengthened with the potential inclusion of Kelly, Cumming and Taylor – while Freo lose Aish to concussion and are still without Sean Darcy.  Reckon that is critical with the continued improvement of Briggs and think the Giants can win this one.

Shainess ($1.78) vs All the King’s Men ($2.28)

The Tigers might not be winning as many as they want but are an extremely dangerous outfit when Shai Bolton turns it on, loves turning it on back in Perth and did so last week.  They hosts the Saints in what promises to be a great contest.  Their form has levelled since the flying start, however with Max King back and in form they had the scoring power to beat the Swans at home.  A great feather in the cap.  Their forwards can stretch the Tigers but reckon this one will come down the battle in the middle with Nankervis and Marshall both in good touch.  A tough one to differentiate with selection important, however going with the Saints to get two in a row,

Bombed Out ($1.76) vs Nothern Exposure ($2.28)

The Blues continued for them last week with an insipid performance against Essendon.  While the 33 tackles was highlighted the greater inditement was than 15 of them were in the first quarter!  The inability to defend the opposition run and carry is matched by the Blues inability to do the same the other way.  Up against the Suns who get a rare trip to the MCG and come off a successful campaign in Darwin with two victories.  They are a team united and playing good footy.  On form they should be too good for Carlton, it is just their lack of exposure on the G that has me tipping my own team.  There is a bit of a smell of Warrick Capper, the Brisbane Bears and 1989.  The club needs to stick fat with the coach they have.

Southern Exposure ($5.10) vs Time for a Beveridge ($1.23)

Back from Tassie North host the Dogs.  Bevos boys should put the three lame losing streak to an end here.

Friar Time

Back to footy for the Ammos and the Friars head to Brunswick for the seniors and reserves in critical games as we reach the turn.  The Women head to Albert park to face Powerhouse and the rampant threes have a top of the table clash at home against MHSOB.

Go Blues, Go Friars,

Cheers, Sal
