Reclink Community Cup 2017

Footy and music have always had a massive part in Australian life, particularly in Melbourne. The celebration of the two has been amazing at times and a little embarrassing at others – Meatloaf anyone?

Thankfully the Reclink Community Cup has always made the mix of footy and music a beautiful one. Beginning in 1993, the event has grown year in, year out and now gathers 10,000 spectators and raises over $100,000 a year for Reclink Australia.

Reclink Australia supports some of the communities most vulnerable and isolated people including youth at risk, those experiencing mental illness, people with disability, the homeless, and people tackling alcohol and other drug issues, and social and economic hardship.

The game itself is always a fun one to watch with the skills or lack thereof on display but the spirit more than makes up for it. The live music only adds to the atmospshere. This year sees Spiderbait, The Peep Tempel, Jen Cloher and REMI all performing live.

  1. Peter Warrington says

    whaddabout Sydney?

we love it here as it’s always a spring day and we can walk there and heckle Albo and diss the media tarts of the Sailors. Go Whalers!

and dogs! did I mention the dogs! Henson park filled with every breed, each one of them a story. some of the owners are OK, too

I do wonder, sometimes, tho, who you have to root to get a game?

  2. Looking forward to roaming the forward flank for the mighty Newshounds at Fremantle Oval. This year will be the third Reclink match in WA. Carn the ‘Hounds! Gonna win this year!
