Rare Book Week – Rare Sports Books and Ephemera (Wednesday July 10th)

After the MCC Library’s Rare Book Week got off to a flyer with Roy Hay’s new book on the early history of Indigenous Australians’ involvement with footy comes another event; this time featuring Almanac favourite Gideon Haigh and Rusty Jackson on the assorted collections of sporting books & paraphernalia they’ve found in their travels.

Rare Sports Books and Ephemera: The collectors and collections
Melbourne Cricket Club Library
Wednesday 10 July, 12:30pm-2:00pm

The panel of sports writers and historians return to the MCC Library for our annual Melbourne Rare Book Week sports history panel discussion, led by MCC Librarian David Studham.

Which collectors have our panellists encountered and which collection have they used in the course of their work.  Where are the hidden gems of sports history? What rare treasures have been uncovered since we last met and what projects are people working on this year?

To be followed by our traditional Q&A with those in attendance.
