Book Review – SNAPS OF THE 2016 SEASON

Capturing images across the length and breadth of South Australian football at numerous levels, Peter Argent has produced an e-book of over 500 of his finest football images in 2016.

The 204-page publication, where all the images are captioned, Argent has captured his best work across the breath of South Australia, from the very top level of the game through to school, underage and SAPSASA primary school football.

“The major achievement from my perspective was the diversity of levels of football I captured among the images,” Argent, a South Australian based freelance photojournalist for the last decade, explained.

“There are snaps from Port Lincoln to Port Adelaide, Gladstone to Glenelg, Tailem Bend to Tanunda and a lot of football grounds in between.

“Some of my favourite images across the season include Caleb Daniel in the Western Bulldogs change rooms after the AFL Grand Final, with his premiership medal in one hand and with a cleansing ale in the other, savouring the spoils of his victory.

“There are a couple of really good hangers – including Lachlan McGregor’s effort in the last quarter of the SANFL Grand Final, Brendan Ah Chee’s effort for Port Adelaide on the outer scoreboard flank against Norwood  late in the regular season and Shane Ballantyne’s screamer for the Southern Flinders side back in round one.

“Across the upward of 500 images, there are many that are unique and a large number that have never been seen previously.”

There are separate chapters in this e-book titled Emotion – Celebrations; Big Marks – Hangers – Screamers; Coaches – Mentors – Off Field Leaders; Country and Community Football; Underage Football; School Footy; Faces – People – Characters; Action; Achievements – Accolades – Goals; Officials and Final Siren.

Argent’s e-book, “SNAPS OF THE 2016 SEASON” captures the passion, intensity and emotion of football through South Australia.
