Onya, Tom!

Greetings Tipsters

Tom Boyd had a brief career, much of it may have been glittery cut glass but he had one beautiful shining diamond that will live forever for Footscray fans. I touched on Tom’s travails here – https://www.footyalmanac.com.au/the-2017-black-dog-cup/

“We don’t know what it’s like to be in the front rank of the Pathway to Football Success since 8 or 9 years of age…”

No, but the mother and father of a young player have an insight. Check this and scroll down for the comment by Tania McCarthy – https://www.footyalmanac.com.au/the-2016-clive-churchill-cup-round-three/

‘AFL’ is a business, an industry, but not a game. NITV telecasted a Murray League match and a NEAFL match on Saturday arvo when the Seven network couldn’t be bothered with the Big League, those were games, matches, a few tubby blokes getting about, there for the joy of playing.

Tom, I wish you all the very best. You have done much, you brought inexpressible joy to many thousands of people.

Cam, you too, all the best that life has to offer.

Tho, if I may advise you youngsters, do not attempt moustaches if you do not have to shave daily.

Cheers Tipsters

Brought to you with the assistance of 2CH, I kid you not, heard ‘I get around’ and ‘Higher and higher’ in a double play this morning.

    Thanks Earl.
    Grateful.

  2. AFL Rookie Draft and Thoroughbred Yearling Sales – Discuss.
Too much money chasing too little talent. The triumph of optimism over experience. Caveat emptor.
At least footballers generally find a better ending. Take the money and run – to a different and better life.
The first 30 years don’t define you – they prepare you.

    Yes, Earl, yes.

I thought the final two paragraphs of this from Andrew Stafford (along with the rest of the piece) were important.
