Nab Cup- The good, bad and ugly.

Don’t we all just love the start of a new footy season?

We get new players, new teams, new jumpers, new scandals, new game plans and in my case a stunner of a new beau.

While I love a new footy season, I don’t exactly have any love for the NAB cup.

I just think of it as forced play in a weird set of up where players are risked even though the quality of the games kind of sucks because no one is really trying, sounds great ey?

Now here’s the question you are all dying to know- how much does Danni dislike the NAB cup if her team publicly made it known that they want to get their hands all over it?

Well I can tell you that I dislike it enough to have really thought about not watching it at all, and had they invented Nicotine like patches for footy lovers like myself, I may have resisted a puff.

So I made a pact with myself.

If the way my boys played frustrated me to a teeth clench I would turn off the footy.

And so I watched the game which was not as bad as I thought it would be, to deliver you my view of it under three categories-

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (not referring to the Collingwood draftee)

~ Converting my beau from a ‘no team supporter’ to a Collingwood one after a record 2 minutes of

~ Baby Blue and former primary school friend Matthew Watson. Gee it was great to see him playing with the big boys of the AFL, even if he’s got that navy blue jumper on.

~ Richmond’s jumper- thumbs up!

~Morton impressed me with his hard work.

~Sam Lane playing in the Legends match for the Flood Relief campaign- Go get ‘em girlfriend, work that ponytail, own that up do!

~Heath Shaw interview! Yay pretty blue eyes!!

~Blair’s stubble!

~ A Muzza Magpie in Fasolo (lets start our chanting MARIA!)

~Dawes’ effort near goal, love LOVE LOVED IT!

~LEEROYYYYYYYYYY!!! Best choice Mick made EVER!

~ The surprise drop in of Tiramisu homemade from my Fairy (Godmother)

~Brad Miller in yellow n black looks better than he ever did fashion wise.

~Seeing Sean Rusling’s number 2 out on the ground  *sobs*

~Jye Bolton, LOVE the manly surname, say it with me, BOLTON! Gah so cool!

~ Blair, BLAIR, he’s EVERYHWERE!

~Toovey’s Travis like attempt at goal.

~ That last touch rule, like seriously its not netball people!!

~ The fact that I feel like this game is so messy and fast paced I can play circus music in my head while watching it and it looks normal.

~ The video review for Dawes’ goal, ROFLMAO!!!

~Substitute vest = Dorky.

~Squealing Carlton teeny boppers… *sigh*

~Carlton without Judd = LOL.

~Andy Maher’s missing suit pants.

~ Blue mouth guards = a fashion don’t.

~ The placement of the sponsor logo on the Collingwood jumper KILLS ME, and why the hell does it look worse on me than the players! Argh!

And I have to add the……..

~Watson’s clean work around the boundary line, man I’m so proud and happy for him!

So there you go, I guess I did enjoy something which I thought would be horrific, now to the next victim, next piece of silver boys!

  1. ~Sam Lane playing in the Legends match for the Flood Relief campaign- Go get ‘em girlfriend, work that ponytail, own that up do!

    Hahaha :)

Watson was quite good, especially that boundary-line play. Oh and Dawes’ kick on goal that required the video replay was touched.

Good report though. Here’s to a new season.

  2. Phil Dimitriadis says

    Nice work Danni,

Blair and Dawes have improved and I like the look of ‘Muzza’Fasolo. AFL needs more Muzzas. Maybe they should send a recruiting officer to Bell St Maccas.

I noticed you didn’t mention Jack Anthony in this report. Does this mean that you are over him, finally?

  3. 1- hahaha i knew you would pick on up that Josh! :)
And had i been there you can be sure i woulda be yelling those lines out :P
Agree with you on Watson…touched ey? lol yeah doubt it

2- Thanks Phil, lol so you like Muzzas? interesting lol
How about i take that job of Muzza recruiting officer? i think i would be the perfect choice :)
Umm..i cant say much on Jack, i mean i can’t really see how i react to his loss until we play Freo, but having a beau certainly helps.

  4. I liked your report Danni but can I add two names. Krakouer and Sidebottom.

How do you improve on a Premiership winning side? You recruit Andrew Krakouer. If he can show his practise match form (inc NAB cup) in the real games then the Pies have added another string to their bow.

I didn’t see all of the NAB cup but every time I looked at the TV Sidebottom was doing something classy. He will be one of Collingwood’s top five players this year.

  5. Dave, i hope Krakouer can reflect the young Leon Davis that used to excite us all.
As for Steele i dont know what to say! :)
Sidey and Blair after out GF win just burst with confidence, i LOVE it!
ps- In that case keep looking at the television, DONT BLINK DAVE!! :)lol

  6. Danni – I assume in calling Richmond’s jumper a thumbs up you were being facetious? I thought it looked like scrambled eggs on Sunicrust.

  7. 6- ummm..nope i like it and i wouldn’t say i liked something unless id be prepared to wear it myself :)
