My suggestion of Melbourne having another sports radio station

SEN’s cutting continues. Even coaching legend Mick Malthouse has been told he has been delisted. Unbelievable.

Then great interviewing kids on Sunday mornings conducted by Tony Schibeci will be missed. His encouraging potential future stars was impressive and made me smile on Sunday here in Japan.

Anger towards their new big boss was getting bigger and sort of out of control; however such emotion and feeling do nothing.

Instead such energy has turned into a different thought eventually.

Why not establishing another sports radio station in Melbourne? We cannot let our voices on sports go… And extremely I dislike to see Craig Hutchinson taking advantages as his SEN is the only sport radio station. Many presenters with great knowledge of sports should contribute the capital of sports in the world.

But radio can be old fashioned in the age of Internet. Online streaming can be better in 2018?

No matter if it’s the old fashioned radio or the new age online streaming, alternative sports specialising audio media platform is what sport diehards in Melbourne want.

If I were in Melbourne, I would get advice from people and set up the media.

Or can we Almanackers do it?

Meanwhile I admire toughness of presenters who have been cut off by SEN. They are positive and strong. Their voices are reflecting well on us fans and valuable so should be heard elsewhere.

When I get back to Melbourne in July, Talking Footy, Mangrook Footy Show and Front Bar are what I would love to watch. No Footy Classified or Footy Show!

About Yoshihiro Imagawa

Love, passion and pride are seen on the footy that is the biggest part of my life. 1. St Kilda Club member: I am a passionate and crazy Sainter. Just hope we will win the second flag soon, especially after Dogs and Tigers having ended long premiership draughts. 2. The Osaka Dingoes Player and Public Relations Officer: Player number 44 that I chose to honour Stephen Milne with my wish being like a small forward like him. Lenny Hayes' hardworking attitudes are adopted on my trainings and practices. Nick Riewoldt's great plays are in my player audiobook too. 3. Writing: Here on the Almanac and also on the World Footy News. My skills utilise on great footy websites.

I’m with you Yoshi. Time for Footy Almanac Radio (FAR) !!

  2. Phillip Dimitriadis says

Or even better, Footy Almanac Network (FAN)

  3. Phil – the Footy Almanac Radio Community?

  4. Thanks Phil for agreeing with my idea us to establish the sport radio, and your suggestion of the name!

And to Dips too… How about the Footy Almanac Community Radio Network?

    Cheers

  5. Not a fan of Hutchy on radio or TV, however love his management style.
He is cleaning SEN of the unprofessional rubbish.
Whateley is brilliant, informative and know his stuff. The Doc and KB work well and Jack is very good of a night with a better show.
For a person with Hutchy ego, the on air is lacking ego and have the knowledge.
So happy we don’t have to put with complete lack of professionism and talent that Mark Allen, David Schwarz, Robbo, Hogg and Mark Fine offered. All of them were over oponiated dills who were really dumb and just loved the sound of their voice.
Hope this works for SEN as it is best station now for the changes.

  6. I had stopped listening to SEN – I’d want to listen some mornings and you’d have KB banging on about not getting rid of the bounce for AN HOUR! His hobby horses were so boring.
Their running sheet was whatever was in the Herald Sun. What do you think fans? Call in!
I’m sorry Francis Leach was given the boot, but Whateley is a great get. I flicked on the other day and he was chatting with Bryan Curtis – in an intelligent way! Brilliant.
I’m not a big fan of Hutchy but I wish him the best in this. He’s lifted what was a very low bar.

My favourite thing about the Almanac was the podcast. It really was one of my favourite hours of the week. If the Almanac could bring that back, I would be very grateful.

FARC sounds like a goer Dips. Great nomination… Says a lot really …

  8. Proud to be a member of the Footy Almanac Radio Team. I can provide an Outside Live Description from my seat in the new Perth Stadium.
“We are crossing now to our OLD FART in Perth for a call of the Eagles game.”
Should be a ratings winner. Will I have to declare the free stubby holder to Centrelink, and will it affect my pension?

  9. G’day guys,

Old Mate – Professionalism is important, but opinionated is needed in the commercial media, isn’t it? Whateley seems good, but my extreme broken heart left me away from tuning in SEN. In my opinion, KB focuses only on Richmond, interchanges and horse racing. His replacing fun Ox and Marko is very disappointing for me. KB had not been my favourite at all – I had switched off SEN while he was hostng Hungry for Sports.

Cookie – KB is so boring and sticks to old stuffs. I don’t want to hear his voice on the drive home time. Strongly Ox and Marko suit more and more to host in such hours. If I were in Melbourne, I would do everything to bring our podcast back. Steven Baker has done terrific jobs with podcasts.

Phil – Haha the abbreviation is unique and easy to remember, lol.

PB – Good transcription mate! I would like to have you on the podcast / FRAC radio.

    Cheers

    Yoshi

  10. Bob Turnbull says

I guess you all will be turning into the new all sports station when it starts on 31st March on 1278. Will be interesting to see who the presenter’s will be and what will be the format.

  11. G’day Bob,

I heard that Ox and Marko were presenting a drive show on the new radio station. I can’t wait how they beat the potentially boring KB and Turf show on SEN.

    Cheers

    Yoshi
