It’s here! The recorded version of ‘Strong Proud Women’, a women’s footy song by Merle Brown.

Merle Brown contacted me as we prepared The Women’s Footy Almanac 2017 to print and launch. She, like many of us, was there at the first game of the AFLW season, and as the video explains below, it led to her writing an anthem, not for teams but for both sides to sing together before the match, to celebrate the rising power of women playing footy.

It’s a great story and one to share far and wide.

It shows too, that if you have an idea, and stick with it, something amazing happens. Look and listen to the joy!

This was recorded at Merle’s work on Thursday 31 August 2017.

It’s taken 5 months from the original thought to getting musicians, Tess and Lara and to singers Jane, Mary, Megan, Sarah, Cheryl, Rhonda, Soheila, Paula, Anne, Carmel, Barb and Kerry together for this clip.
Jeremy was the sound and vision man.
This catches the same joy as The Women’s Footy Almanac 2017.
