Autumn gust ~
the whole backline
swept aside
Autumn haze ~
not recalling a time
we looked this bad
twisted branches ~
the full forward
hangs out an arm
one leaf still clings slowly losing touch
lingering sun ~
a late goal from deep
in the pocket
sun between clouds ~
our latest comeback
snuffed out
10 goals down ~
the players’ shadows
sprawled across the turf
junk time ~
the umpire’s voice
loudest

About rob scott
Rob Scott (aka Haiku Bob) is a peripatetic haiku poet who calls Victoria Park home. He writes haiku in between teaching whisky and drinking English, or something like that.

Love the Scott Pendlebury line. Just about my favourite footballer in another club. So unassuming. So effective.
