Haiku Bob – Round 22 – the far corners (A Dane Swan Tribute)
autumn colours
the tattooed rover
adds his
a chill
in the winter sun —
Swan scuffs his first kick
not breaking stride
Swanny weaves winter
into spring
cloud drift Swan waddles through a gap in the crows
pack forms –
Swan ducks his head
into the cloud
freshly cut fields
Swan feeds
on the MCG
still no goals
just Swanny
running
Swan again
the Sherrin must be
a lung
spreading butter
to the far corners of my toast
Swan everywhere
miskick
Swan goals
in spite of it
up the ground
and back again
Swan’s shadow
long winter —
the ball stained
with Swan’s foot
spring shadows
Swan gets cornered
into kicking the goal
football
the ocean
Swan swims in

HB, a crappy Haiku attempt at my favourite Swan moment when he beat Enright in a goal square contest one night at the G. One of my favourite non-Geelong players.
Great tribute from you.
Love “the ball stained – with Swan’s foot”. Powerful images. HB – Haiku Brownlow?
Love it all HB.
The toast.
The up the ground and back again.
All of it.
