the final margin plus or minus the beer
all on
the young full-forward’s shoulders
the moon
half moon-
one side of the ground
rocking
a goal
that took under 10 seconds
and yet
late winter
in his hands briefly
the ball
final siren –
the night divided
in two
down to the wire
but deep down
we always knew
