Haiku Bob – Round 14 – the sound of empty
June 29, 2017 by 3 Comments
dreary defeat –
less beauty
in Grundy’s leap
even before the defeat
one of my dreams
fading
shortest day –
our forward line
still asleep
winter chill –
our one and only goal
for the quarter
sun then cloud
our touch
comes and goes
struggling to score
seagulls flood
the forward line
losing
in front of a small crowd
the sound of empty

About rob scott
Rob Scott (aka Haiku Bob) is a peripatetic haiku poet who calls Victoria Park home. He writes haiku in between teaching whisky and drinking English, or something like that.

That beautifully captures what I saw and felt from a distance, HB. Those Port seagulls swarmed all day.
The Pies seem willing, but just not able to match it week to week. They need Wells and Elliot back asap.
Interesting times come the end of the season.
Cheers
Is it also the sound of resignation HB? Nicely captured.
Bob,
I’m taking off for the M.C.G. today. I still have those ‘two halves’ of “love and hate” in my head from our last meeting. Full of anticipation, for the footy and the poem.
