Gideon Haigh’s book launch

I’m afraid I’ve done it again – that is, dashed off a new book. It’s called OUT OF THE RUNNING. It is about the 2010-11 Ashes series. You can see it here.

It has Michael Clarke on the cover. Sad to say, despite the small fortune he must have spent on them, none of his ten tattoos are visible. Anyway, Penguin are too poor to help me launch it, but we at the Yarras are going ahead anyway, with a barbecue on the night of Thursday 24 February from 7pm at Como Park, which is here (Melways Map 58 G2). You are cordially invited. We like our cordial at the Yarras. Proceeds from the evening will go towards an extension of our practice wicket area. We need all the practice we can get. OUT OF THE RUNNING will be launched by The Age’s prince of sports writing, GREG BAUM. There will be beer, sausages and the intoxicating atmosphere of community sport (coming from the musty carpet). Flick me a reply to let me know if you’re coming, and we look forward to seeing you at Como Park. ([email protected]) Gideon Haigh

  1. Peter Flynn says

    G’day all,

I’m going along to this show. Gideon’s book launches are always good nights.

Let us know by email if you’re keen for one more.

  2. Thoroughly endorse the recommendation…Thursday nights are no good for me but I can guarantee an enjoyable experience for anyone who turns up.

  3. hair care night Crio? Sounds a good night.

  4. #1 – Flynnie would love to go but am otherwise engaged. Enjoy one for me.

  5. Tommy’s cricket practice Chalk. The Bombres and Dees blockbuster was not a consideration. You should go…it is in your region over the Yarra!
