From Yoshi to former St Kilda players

To disloyal Brendon Goddard from a crazy Japanese St Kilda supporter

Brendon Goddard, I am unhappy that you have left St Kilda to join Essendon and reasons. And how you defend your decision to leave such a good football club where loyalty has been built by Grant Thomas, Nick Riewoldt, Lenny Hayes and other champion footballers.

But you have strong hearts and passion even if they can be like rock that I do not want to see as you are our opponent now. Then the Bombers need to keep up your current club for 2016 due to 12 suspended players including Jobe Watson.

I feel sorry for what have happened at Essendon. Probably different to fellow St Kilda supporter, I have no hatred feeling to the Bombers. Instead I have positive image of the club and have a good mate who is a passionate Bomber.

Recently retired Paul Chapman has criticised your on field attitudes and behaviours in his book. I reckon you are so grumpy to see his sentences in print and want to criticise back Chapman. Also you hate AFL memes on Facebook suck as begging James Hird to trade back to the Saints and your window for the flag has been closed.

Why not transforming unwanted energy into leading the club in 2016? I think you are the favourite to be a skipper at Essendon in 2016. When I heard what your new coach John Worsfold commented on the captaincy last week, my thought came up like “I totally agree!”

The reason is because you could have been handed over the top Saint job from Riewoldt if you stayed at St Kilda. I do not care how Chapman described your behaviour on the footy field. You are the suitable captain in the Bomberland for 2016.

Do it BJ!! And I look forward to see you and your cousin Huge play as opponents at Round 9 and Round 16 this year, and to see your old club marching in.

To my favourite son Ahmed Saad (I wish you are still a Saint)

Ahmed Saad, I am sad to see you delisted by the Saints. I could not imagine how just one mistake taking inappropriate drink caused your football career.

In 2015, I wanted to see your goal kicking more and more. I wish your on field performances like my hero Stephen Milne’s ones.

It must be very hard to train your own to go back to playing footy while you were sadly suspended from playing footy, both physically and mentally.

You would be our key player and in a leadership group if you did not get suspension. And you will contribute well to rebuild the mighty Saints.

As you still are willing to play footy in AFL, I hope you help Essendon. If you can play at Bomberland, you need to show efforts and should keep playing for years until you retire. Even I would be very sad to see you playing for another club.

All the best to you mate. Saad, I like you more than Brandon. Go for it and get another opportunity!

  1. Cat from the Country says

Hi Yoshi, I am sorry you feel players who leave a team are disloyal.
Being a died-in-the-wool Geelong Cats supporter, over the years we have seen a number of players leaving, the most notable being Garry Abblet Jnr. The most recent is Alan Christiansen.
They leave for all sorts of reasons and they are not really disloyal.
I believe we are disappointed at our team’s loss and it can be hard to come to terms with this loss.
However, would you really like someone who wants to go to be made to stay?
I believe under these circumstances they would not play their best

  2. Hi Cat,

Thank you for your comment with empathy and good points of views.

I feel sad that Gary Albett Jr. left your beloved Cats. I understand he left Geelong to Gold Coast for better money. Yes, players choose new club with different reasons. BJ tried to get more opportunities to win the flag at Essendon.

What made me sad about Brandon Goddard was St Kilda established loyalty when Grand Thomas was in charge at the club. Three years ago, my friend gave me the book entitled with The Game : A Collection of the Best AFL Stories, for my 40th birthday. The loyalty story at St Kilda was so impressed as a new St KIlda fan. Hayes, Riewoldt, Koschitzke and Montagna kept and keep loyalty and faith to the club. As BJ was drafted two years later after had been Riewoldt, I am sad to see him going to Essendon.

But can I change him? Absolutely not. If he wants to play for another club with reason, I can’t change. But I can have emotion and opinions about him. That is life, isn’t it?

On the other hand, it is sad that Nick Dal Santo left St Kilda to move to North Melbourne to allow the club to rebuild. It must be hard for Dal to face St Kilda on the footy field. I much prefer Dal to BJ as individuals.

What do you think about Patrick Dangerfield?

    Best Wishes,
