FEARLESS 2019 Round 6 – Lest we forget…

Sometimes access to tv remote is hard and so it was with the Tigers v Dees. Around the grounds in Fiji, disappointment too. Stiflingly low scores, as a battle of defensive wills saw the Mighty Mighty Tiger Vlastuin hold sway. The Dees searching, had swung the axe. Dees not good enough, jumper good, Tigers easy, as alexnation swapped jumpers.

Essendon and Collingwood entered the MCG with both teams in finals-like form. Anzac Day was a privilege to watch but it’s just a shame that a great game was marred by sickness at the Prez’s lunch, questionable umpiring and the inevitable booing at the end of a close game. Pies by 4 pts. The spirit of our many Anzac learnings undermined.

The Roos bounded into Adelaide Oval winless there. Port, fresh from a great win, were wary. Why? North’s defenders run like roos trapped in headlights…frozen, scared and about to cough it up. Port in control until a late lapse nearly let the Roos back in. Port by 16pts. Higgins, Jonas big late outs. S Gray 4, Souva Larkey 3 in 3rd game.

Tropic Thunder XXMWTF took place at Club Metricon and both Queensland teams in good form. Corbett started for the Suns with a bang and by half time it was goodnight from him. Warm temps not a surprise and the contest was even to half time. Lions roared away after break to a 49pt win. Robinson and Rayner 3. Mitch won the medal.

The Crows came to Etihad to tackle the in-form Saints. Inaccuracy marred the Saints’ early efforts and ultimately that potentially becomes costly – 9 scoring shots to 3 in 1st qtr. Crouch brothers started winning the ball and big Tex looked ominous up forward. Coupled with injuries, Saints couldn’t keep pace, despite Savage 30. Crows by 29pts.

The SCG hosted the Easties v Westies Cup (the battle of the bridge is JUST SO INANE AND BORING!)…so much so that the Lego Movie was Awesome on the other channel. Struggling Swannies lost Buddy before the game and started well but the Giants pulled away after the 1 /2. Cornholio 24stats, 4 goals led the way, GWS 41pts.

From Mundy to Sundy Freo love David Mundy and on Satdy he hit three hundy…and he probably celebrated with bundy. The Purple Haze swamped their favourite son and the crowd might have done likewise after the Dockers solid 19pt win over the Dogs at Optus on Saturday night. Freo kicked away in the last but Fyfe bump may get MRP’d.

Geez the Blues were stiff at UTAS/Aurora/York Park/Captain Groenewagon Park on Sunday afternoon. 1 or 2 seconds as the ball was in flight and the final siren goes. The reverse Kerry Good! OK yes the Blues coughed up a 6 goal lead against the Hawks but Hawthorn was never going to be easily beaten at their Tassie fortress.

Geelong hosted the Eagles at Kardinia/Skilled/Simmons/GMHBALingy and for the 2nd week in a row, the Eagles showed some structural deficiencies. OK not everyone gets the Cats’ home ground and chances are the finals won’t be played there…and then there’s Gazza (Ablett 28, 2goals) and Rohan 4. Cats by 58pts. Eagles’ wings clipped.
